Odds and Ends

Its early this morning. The sun isn't even up yet. We begin painting today. One of our son's was getting rid of old movies on his phone and he had taken a movie of this house the day we got the keys. We got to see all of the things we were going to change and haven't in five years! We were going to paint all of the house and get new carpet. But we didn't. There were other things that we had to do. We are now back on the trail now. Painting begins this morning. All four bedrooms. Then all new carpet. Then last of all, I am going to buy a new hooking chair.

I won't even take a picture of my old hooking chair. I love my chair but it has seen better days, like maybe 10 years ago. My Mother-in-law got it at a yard sale in the 90s and then she sold it at a yard sale, and I bought it. It was old when she bought it. J.C. Penney used to sell them but its got harder and harder to find them. I finally had to admit, everything is worn out on it and when I am afraid for people to see it because its so ratty, maybe its time. Our son Peter just turned 30 and he said, I think you have had that ugly chair since before I was born. Time goes by fast doesn't it?

I don't know if Ron and I can do it, but we have great plans to paint two rooms today, and the smallest room tomorrow. Then next weekend the master. But you know that getting older thing right? So we will see.

I just thought I would check in, I am that close to getting my rug finished. I hope all of you have a lovely weekend, while I am here getting covered in paint. I can never figure out by the end of the day it will look like I rolled around in a paint can, and Ron will have no drips or anything. Same goes every time we work in the yard. He is spotlessly clean and I look like I dig ditches for a living. Sometimes things just don't change.

If your hooking chair is still structurally good perhaps you could have it reupholstered by someone. Just a thought since things made today don't last.

My husband and I are the same. We need to do a spare room over but we do not work together very well lol.

Your photos are so lovely today Kim...That second sunflower looks almost fuzzy. Good luck with the painting project. I laughed when you said you'd look like you rolled around in the paint by the end. That is EXACTLY how it would be with me. Back in the days when I took painting classes, the teacher - after a few classes - set up an entire table just for me because she knew I would get paint all over. Now you have me wanting to see a picture of your scraggly ol' hooking chair. I replaced mine over a year ago (or more?) and replaced it with a chair and a half because my (xlarge) cat has to sit next to me and we no longer fit in the same chair. (I won't say who got bigger ;-) )...But, I couldn't bring myself to get rid of my old one. So it sits across from the new chair LOL. The old one, those having a much smaller footprint, is 5x as heavy as the new one. It was one of those old mohair chairs with the hand-tied springs. I bought it - and the matching sofa - from my aunt and uncle many, many, years ago (when I was still in college). They've been recovered more times than I can count (not an inexpensive proposition) and could use it again...but they are still my living room furniture. Like Saundra said, they don't make things like that anymore.

Five years since you moved??? How did that happen? Time flies like an arrow...but fruit flies like a banana. (I love that saying. The first time I heard it, it took me a while to "get" it...lol!)
Good luck with the painting project. My house needs painting, but this time around I refuse to do it, so it probably won't happen.
I can't believe you are almost done with your rug. Pictures! We want pictures!!!
Happy Father's Day to Ron.

I hope you'll give us an update on the painting project -- and the rug, too!
